Forever People
We are
Forever People. We are born, we live and
we go through death. However, we do not
die. We change. Our earthly life is an infinitesimally small
portion of our true life and yet we often treat it as the most important thing
in our lives. Jesus said, “For those who want
to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will
find it.” (Mathew 16:26 New Revised Standard Version)
God is
much more concerned about our Forever Life than He is about our earthly
life. I believe that we are so often
concerned about our earthly existence that we fail to see God’s plan for our
eternal life. His plans sometimes take
us through places, times and situations that we do not like. Recall that the Israelites had to go through
the Red Sea, across the desert, through the flooded Jordon River
and then had to fight to secure the “Promised Land”. And man o man did they ever complain about
it. They fought God most of the way. You see, to God, this was less than the tick
of a clock and was a necessary part of their conditioning and shaping as a
nation instead of a disjointed band of family tribes.
So
consider this when next you come to your own Red Sea, desert, flood or fight
for what God has promised; perhaps He has you in training camp and is preparing
you for the glory to come. He is
thinking of your life forever with Him.
